The aluminum pigment used in the
8 000 Series is leafi ng, implying
that it remain on the surface of the
ink layer.
Inks made from this type of
pigments have a high metallic
lustre. They offer less resistance to
friction and colors may be “grey”
due of the aluminum pigment..
The pigments used in 10 000 Series are non-leafing, implying that they do not remain on the surface of the ink layer.
Inks made from non-leafi ng pigments
have fresh metallic colors, they are easy to varnish and have better abrasion resistance.
However their metallic luster is less
than the 8 000 Series.
10 000 SERIES (Plus/Premium)
Non-Leafing pigment
WHEN MAKING A CHOICE, IT IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENT POSSIBILITIES:
Metallic blue,
metallic green...
In order to print these metallic colors, two options are available to you :
On the market, you will find two PANTONE®: the
8000 series and the 10 000 series also called Plus
or Premium series.
What is the difference between these two series?
It lies primarily in the use
of two types of aluminum
pigments, the leafing
one that is available in
abundance and the
non-leafing.
